New employer coming to Livingston Parish | Business
Superior Steel Inc., a major fabrication and erecting firm responsible for some of the largest construction projects in the Capital Region and along the Gulf Coast, has found a new home in Livingston Parish.
The family-owned business has purchased nearly twenty acres on the site of the former Vulcan Foundry and East Jordan Ironworks on Hatchell Lane in Denham Springs. The company plans to have the plant operational by September.
Superior Steel has already begun renovating buildings and will invest more than one million dollars in new equipment at the new location, which will double its acreage and expand its fabrication plant by a third to about 90,000 square feet. The company currently employs 85 workers, with hopes of expanding.
"We are thrilled to welcome a quality, respected firm like Superior Steel to Livingston Parish," says Randy Rogers, president and CEO of Livingston Economic Development Council (LEDC), which assisted with the relocation. "It’s also exciting to be able to put the former foundry facility back into commerce and see such dramatic improvements to the site."
